The Vegas Golden Knights appear to be engaged in trade discussions with several teams regarding 26-year-old defenceman Nic Hague.

Hague, who is due for a solid bump in salary, is eligible to become a restricted free agent July 1 and has arbitration rights.

TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported late last month at Hague was up for grabs.

Given the club’s minimal salary cap space ($9.615 million), the Golden Knights are exploring their options and teams like the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings are just four teams believed to have varying degrees of interest.

According to separate sources, Hague’s camp was made aware a move is possible, though not a guarantee.

If a trade does go down, it may occur around the NHL Draft later this month. It is unclear what Vegas GM Kelly McCrimmon is asking for, but he is also believed to be in the market for a top-six winger and may try to land one by moving Hague.

In 68 games this season, Hague registered five goals and seven assists for 12 points, along with 40 penalty minutes.
