TOP 25 UFAs: 2025

As of July 3, 2025 | 8:00pm ET

As teams look to improve their clubs going into the 2025-26 campaign, we look at the Top 40 Unrestricted Free Agents set to hit the open market July 1 at 12:00pm ET.

This page will be updated frequently and TFP's panel of experts will outline each player's value. Some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added, ahead of July 1.

PLEASE NOTE: Teams linked to players are based off both external media reports and internal sources.

AGE: 28
2024-25 CAP HIT: $10.903M

1. Mitch Marner, RW

Sign & trade to Vegas (8-years, $96M)

All signs point to Marner hitting July 1 and exploring all of his options. As TFP’s David Pagnotta reported at the start of the Cup Final, Marner has a select list of teams he would be interested in signing with this summer, with Los Angeles and Vegas being two of the options — some believe Vegas is the frontrunner. Toronto will continue to pry the door open, but the Leafs are planning for life without Marner, who put up 102 points this season.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vegas, Los Angeles, Carolina, Anaheim, Columbus, Chicago, Utah, San Jose, Ottawa, Calgary

AGE: 29
2024-25 CAP HIT: $6M

2. Nikolaj Ehlers, LW

Signed with Carolina (6-years, $51M)

All indications going into this season were it would be Ehlers’ last in Winnipeg. The Jets will surely try to keep him around long-term, and winning can alter someone’s mindset, but we will see if Ehlers and the Jets can extend their marriage. Given the shallow free agent pool, though, Ehlers is among the big fish teams would love to catch.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Winnipeg, Carolina, Vancouver, NY Rangers, NY Islanders, Columbus, San Jose, Anaheim, Toronto, Chicago, Washington, Colorado, Tampa Bay

AGE: 37
2024-25 CAP HIT: $6.125M

3. Brad Marchand, RW

Signed with florida (6-years, $31.5M)

Marchand’s having the time of his life right now, celebrating his second Stanley Cup, but early speculation suggested he is interested in staying in South Florida beyond this season. We’ll see how things go once he sobers up, but seeing Marchand sign a deal with the Panthers is a possibility. Alternatively, given his performance so far in the playoffs, several Cup contenders will be calling if he explores the market.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Florida, Los Angeles, Toronto, Utah, New Jersey, Washington

AGE: 28
2024-25 CAP HIT: $6.65M

4. Brock Boeser, RW

Signed with Vancouver (7-years, $50.75M)

Boeser is ready for a change of scenery, and as TFP’s David Pagnotta reported last month, it is a “longshot” that he signs in Vancouver. For teams looking to add some scoring punch in their top-six, Boeser is a top option for them to pursue this July.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Los Angeles, Minnesota, Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Anaheim, Buffalo, Chicago, Nashville, Detroit

AGE: 33
2024-25 CAP HIT: $5M

5. Mikael Granlund, C/LW

Signed with Anaheim (3-years, $21M)

The Stars are interested in keeping him, but their cap situation isn’t ideal — even after moving out Mason Marchment, more moves are required. There was a lot of interest in Granlund this season and he will surely generate plenty of interest if he hits the market July 1.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Dallas, Vancouver, Carolina, Anaheim, Columbus, Toronto, San Jose

AGE: 29
2024-25 CAP HIT: $5.875M

6. Vladislav Gavrikov, LD

Signed with NY Rangers (7-years, $49M)

The Kings are working hard to try and keep Gavrikov in the fold, but if they can’t the veteran appears to have a short list of teams he is interested in joining, with the Rangers believed to be one of them. He’s set to cash in on his next deal and could command around $8M per year.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Los Angeles, NY Rangers

AGE: 36
2024-25 CAP HIT: $4M

7. Patrick Kane, RW

Signed with Detroit (1-year, $3M)

The Red Wings would like to hold on to Kane, but the future Hall of Famer may explore his options and try to join a top contender this summer. His price tag will hover around the same deal he had with Detroit, whether he re-signs or leaves.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Detroit, Toronto

AGE: 28
2024-25 CAP HITS: $6. 75M

8. Ivan Provorov, LD

Signed with Columbus (7-years, $59.5M)

Provorov and the Blue Jackets discussed a contract all season long before putting a half on negotiations in March. Columus has tried to get Provorov signed to a new, long-term extension, and has discussed a shorter term deal, but at the time of this update, there is nothing new to report on those negotiations.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Columbus, NY Rangers, Ottawa, Los Angeles

AGE: 33
2024-25 CAP HIT: $7.75M

9. Dmitry Orlov, LD

Signed with San Jose (2-years, $13M)

Orlov appears set on testing the free agent market July 1, despite the Hurricanes reaching out about a possible extension. Orlov cashed in on a two-year deal with Carolina and while he may take less on the AAV elsewhere, he may benefit on extra years.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Utah, Buffalo, Calgary, Edmonton, Anaheim

AGE: 34
2024-25 CAP HIT: $3.85M

10. Jake Allen, G

Signed with New Jersey (5-years, $9M)

Allen’s the top goaltender available in the free agent market this July, and he should cash in on a decent deal. There aren’t an abundance of options, but given where the cap is going, a solid contract is Allen’s for the taking.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Philadelphia, New Jersey, Edmonton, San Jose

AGE: 29
2024-25 CAP HIT: $1.6M

11. Pius Suter, C/LW

Signed with St. Louis (2-years, $8.25M)

After a solid season in Vancouver, Suter may be poised to cash in on a larger contract elsewhere this July. However, reports suggest the Canucks have re-engaged in contract talks with Suter’s camp, so we’ll see how that develops.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Vancouver, Philadelphia, Anaheim, St. Louis, San Jose, Buffalo

AGE: 27
2024-25 CAP HIT: $4.5M

12. Ryan Lindgren, RD

Signed with Seattle (4-years, $18M)

Lindgren is heading to free agency and will be testing the market. There are a lot of teams interested in a rugged, right-shot defenceman, and Lindgren should cash in on a solid contract, especially given his age.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Columbus, Boston, Detroit, Edmonton

AGE: 29
2024-25 CAP HIT: $5.8M

13. Andrew Mangiapane, W

Signed with Edmonton (2-years, $7.2M)

As TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported earlier this month, Mangiapane will be heading to free agency. It’s unclear as to the type of contract he will be looking for, but teams interested in adding scoring depth to their mid-six will come calling.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Toronto, Seattle, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Boston

AGE: 40
2024-25 CAP HIT: $1.15M

14. Corey Perry, RW

Signed with Los Angeles (1-year, $2M)

The Oilers would like to keep Perry for another season, and the veteran winger has expressed his desire to stay in Edmonton, as well. We’ll see where this ends up, but if Perry is comfortable staying at a similar AAV, a deal is likely.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Edmonton, Toronto

AGE: 29
2024-25 CAP HIT: $1.075M

15. Victor Olofsson, RW/LW

Olofsson slightly rebounded this season after a down year the previous season. For teams looking for depth scoring in their bottom-six, Olofsson may be the guy — and he won’t be pricey.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 32
2024-25 CAP HIT: $2.1M

16. Nick Bjugstad, C/RW

Signed with St. Louis (2-years, $3.5M)

Bjugstad has a down-year in Salt Lake City this season, but his big frame will attract plenty of contenders. He will be hitting the open market as a UFA, as TFP’s David Pagnotta first reported, and teams will come calling.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 29
2024-25 CAP HIT: $5.5M

17. Andrei Kuzmenko, RW/LW

Signed with Los Angeles (1-year, $4.3M)

The Kings could try to hold on to Kuzmenko, as a significant financial discount, but the winger is likely testing his options this July. He’d like a top-six role on a team in need of extra scoring, and his performance in Los Angeles proved he can still produce.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Los Angeles, Anaheim

AGE: 31
2024-25 CAP HIT: $3.25M

18. Cody Ceci, RD

Signed with Los Angeles (4-years, $18M)

For teams looking to add depth to their blueline, Ceci will be on their radars. It’s not yet known what type of contract he is looking for, but as a third-pair defenceman he will generate interest.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 36
2024-25 CAP HIT: $873,770

19. Max Pacioretty, LW

After a solid showing this season with the Maple Leafs, Pacioretty upped his performance in the playoffs. While he could join a different contender, it seems he will consider a return to Toronto or sign closer to his family.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Toronto, Detroit

AGE: 33
2024-25 CAP HIT: $800,000

20. Nate Schmidt, LD/RD

Signed with Utah (3-years, $10.5M)

Another Panther riding a giant high, at the moment, Schmidt went to Florida to get his career back on track. And man, did it ever. He was much improved this season and played a role on a championship defensive corps. He will have options.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Florida

AGE: 30
2024-25 CAP HIT: $2.5M

21. Jonathan Drouin, LW

Signed with NY Islanders (2-years, $8M)

Drouin is going to test the waters and see what might be available to him after getting his career back in order in Colorado.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Detroit, NY Islanders, Philadelphia

AGE: 27
2024-25 CAP HIT: $1.25M

22. Anthony Beauvillier, RW/LW

Signed with Washington (2-years, $5.5M)

Beauvillier is not expected back in Washington and will be looking to take his game to a new team for the 2025-26 season. He’s versatile and could be a solid mid-six add for a contender looking to add depth to its lineup.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Washington, San Jose, Chicago

AGE: 30
2024-25 CAP HIT: $1M

23. Connor Brown, RW

Signed with New Jersey (4-years, $12M)

Brown will be hitting the open market and a deal to stay in Edmonton may no longer be in the cards. The Oilers are making some tweaks to their lineup and Brown may be focusing on joining a new contender next season.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 33
2024-25 CAP HIT: $3.15M

24. Brian Dumoulin, RD

Signed with Los Angeles (3-years, $12M)

Teams looking for a reliable, veteran defensive blueliner will have interest in Dumoulin, who is hoping to chase another championship with a new contender.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

TBD

AGE: 40
2024-25 CAP HIT: $8M

25. Brent Burns, RD

Signed with Colorado (1-year, $1M)

Burns will either stay in Raleigh, join one of the top contenders, or hang up his skates. Many believe he can still produce, and Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour wants to hold on to him. We’ll see if they can reach a deal.

Teams Reportedly Linked:

Carolina
